Atrium Health abandons trans youth
New policy to stop all gender-affirming hormonal and surgical care for LGBT+ youth under 19yo
Select providers were made aware of this new policy last week. Effective Aug 4th, providers are to inform ALL patients under 19 that they will NO LONGER be able to receive this care at Atrium Health, with a final hormone prescription sent by Aug 14th.
The actual doctors providing this care are NOT OK with Atrium’s capitulation to comply with Trump’s illegal executive order.
This policy is not based on medicine, nor care for patients, nor healing. This policy is meant to protect the financial interest of Atrium’s institutions, on the backs of an already-marginalized group.
This is a policy of COWARDS and of BIGOTS.

Mass Cancellation Aug 18th - Call or use MyChart on Mon Aug 18 to cancel any upcoming appointments you have at an Atrium-affiliated provider, and cite this policy as why
If your medical situation does not allow you to safely cancel - On Aug 18th call Atrium customer service at 800-821-1535 or provide online feedback with this form and tell them that they should undo this policy change
Spread the word amongst your communities and encourage others to speak out
Our civil rights, our rights to bodily autonomy and to self-actualization, will continue to erode if influential institutions like Atrium bow under this administration’s pressure. We must stand up and apply our own righteous pressure right back on them!
We must protect trans kids.
