No ICE in Cary
How to take action
A location in Cary immediately adjacent to Koka Booth (11000 Regency Parkway) is currently being considered for an administrative office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to reliable reporting by Wired on Feb 10th. This information was verified by NC Newsline, that GSA (General Services Administration) signed a lease at 11000 Regency Parkway in October — GSA has been leasing office space on behalf of DHS/ICE in order to obscure the intended use of those properties. More information from the INDY and the News & Observer about this office space in Cary

Call your Reps to support a bill for local authorization of detention centers
New legislation introduced on Feb 23rd — Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) and Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) are introducing a new bill that would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to solicit public comments and receive written approval from state and local officials before constructing, acquiring or operating any new Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing facility or detention center.
Although this location in Cary is unlikely to do any detention or processing, this is still an important bill for the rest of NC.
Call your Reps to support this bill!

My name. is [name]. I am calling from [zip code].
I am calling to ask that you support the recently introduced bill by Pappas and Shaheen, to require local authorization for any new ICE facilities. Our cities should be able to say NO if they do not want an increased ICE presence in their communities.
Thank you

I am a [Cary resident, Triangle resident], contacting you with my concern about the news of an additional ICE facility planned in Cary. I ask you as a representative of this city, to do everything in your power to oppose this ICE expansion in our area.
From something as simple as releasing a public statement of opposition on behalf of the city, passing city ordinances, requiring additional permitting, or coordinating with County or State leadership.
Thank you for standing up for Cary.

Hello, I am a [Wake County resident, Triangle resident]. According to recent reporting by Wired, there are plans for expansion of ICE offices within Cary, at 11000 Regency Parkway right next to Koka Booth.
https://www.wired.com/story/ice-expansion-across-us-at-heres-where-its-going-next/This ICE expansion will affect all of us in the Triangle. I am very concerned, and I believe the community of Cary and the people of Wake County would oppose this expansion. An increased ICE presence in Cary will make people in this diverse community afraid. Especially right next to a community center like Koka Booth!
I am hoping that the Wake County Commissioners will work with the Town of Cary and do everything in their power to block ICE expansion in our area.
Thank you

I am asking that you do everything in your power to block ICE expansion in North Carolina.
Other cities and states have taken many steps to try and control ICE activity within their states. We should be doing the same here.
Thank you for standing up for NC residents.

I am a [Cary resident, Triangle resident], contacting you with my concern about the news that office space in your building at 11000 Regency Parkway will be leased as an ICE office. We do not want expansion of ICE facilities in our area. Out of respect for the safety and well being of our community, I ask your office NOT to lease office space to the General Services Administration (GSA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Thank you.

We are [GROUP] in the vicinity of the 9000 and 11000 Regency Lakeview business complex (otherwise known as Regency Lakeview). 11000 Regency Parkway is currently being considered for an administrative office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to reliable reporting by Wired on Feb 10th. We oppose the introduction of administrative offices for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement into our neighborhood. Cary is a vibrant community with 44% of its community identifying as a demographic other than White. Introducing increased ICE presence around our homes, schools, and community damages trust in our local law enforcement, decreases the values of our properties, and increases our community members' risk of violent encounters.
To our city council – Please take every action within your power to oppose expanded ICE facilities in Cary.
To the leasing company and owner of the office building – We implore you to consider the effect of increasing ICE presence in our home, and to not lease office space to the General Services Administration (GSA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Thank you
